From a confluence of excellent Spokane bands arises a new group. Mama Doll started as a Whitworth-centered duo, with Sarah of Terrible Buttons and Austen of Franklin. Originally, a ukulele and a lone tom-tom drum accompanied their vocal harmonies. Now, Jen of Cedar & Boyer has joined on bass and Claire adds lead guitar to this quartet. After a year of live concerts, these woman recently completed an album with the skills of Moscow-based producer/engineer Bart Budwig. Mama Doll will deliver their "As the Crow Flies" album release concert at The Bartlett on August 9th. To get the word out, Sarah and Austen will drop by the 103.1 KCDA Local Lounge to chat and spin several CD cuts this Sunday at 10pm.
