How Meghan Markle Is Fixing Her 'Tarnished Image'

The Duke & Duchess Of Sussex Visit South Africa

After a summer of scandals and intense public backlash, Meghan Markle is using her royal tour of South Africa as an opportunity to rehabilitate her "tarnished image," according to Page Six.

Meghan and Prince Harry fell out of public favor after using private jets to travel for personal vacation, spent $4 million on home renovations and were accused of "hiding" baby Archie from the world. While touring South African, the Duchess of Sussex is reportedly trying to remind the British media and public why they fell in love with her in the first place.

One way Meghan is attempting to fix her damaged reputation is through her fashion choices. Instead of donning expensive designer clothing, Meghan has been spotted in affordable outfits from J. Crew and Madewell. She also wore outfits she was photographed in while touring Australia, New Zealand, Tonga and Fiji last year. Meghan dressed Archie in $12 H&M overalls for his big debut, as well. She even left her $140,000 engagement ring behind.

Meghan and Harry have kept their 4-month-old son out of the public eye since he was born in May. This all changed, however, when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex allowed Archie to be filmed and photographed during their meeting with Archbishop Desmond Tutu. They even shared some of the photos and videos on their own Instagram account.

While these efforts may seem organic, Meghan and Harry have reportedly carefully curated their every move before heading to South Africa with Archie. Page Six reports Meghan hired LA based celebrity crisis management Sunshine Sachs to help her fix her public perception. She's been working with PR manager Keleigh Thomas Morgan.

“Meghan knew she needed help, [so] she reached out to a very few trusted people, including Keleigh,” a source close to Meghan told Page Six. “She has a few girlfriends in the UK who are extremely well-versed in British media.”

Meghan and Harry's efforts appear to be working well as their royal tour of Africa, especially Archie's appearance, have received glowing praise from the press and royal watchers alike.
