Legislation Sets Minimum Age for Marriage in Idaho

In Idaho getting your driver's licence may not be the only thing you have to wait until you're 16 to accomplish.

KHQ reports legislation was approved by the House Judiciary, Rules and Administration Committee that would set a state minimum age to get married to 16. Also it would limit marriages of 16- and 17-year-olds to someone not more than three years older. The legislation now moves on to the full House.

Idaho currently has no minimum marriage age. Backers say the legislation is needed to prevent young girls from marrying much older men.
