Mayor Woodward: Some Local Businesses Couldn't Survive Reopening Step Back

Spokane Mayor Nadine Woodward thinks some local businesses couldn't survive a step backwards in the reopening plan.

Woodward tells KHQ:

"I just don't know how our businesses will be able to survive that," and "so those are some really ominous things we need to think about if we did have to step back."

The mayor admitted she's concerned after a recent spike in local COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations have seen an increase, but Woodward noted the death rate is still rather low for a county of Spokane's size.

Spokane County officials say consideration for phase 3 would not likely happen for at least two weeks.
