The Spokane Regional Health District is canceling its weekly briefing today amid questions over who is leading the county response to the COVID-19 pandemic. SRHD Administrative Officer Amelia Clark fired Health Officer Dr. Bob Lutz last week. However, Lutz cannot be formally removed from his position until the board votes on it. The board has scheduled a meeting to remove Lutz tomorrow at 3:00 p.m., at which point they plan to vote to name Dr. Mary Bergum as the new county health officer.
