Trump Balloon Coming to Spokane

posted by Angela -

A blimp depicting President Donald Trump as a baby that has stirred up a controversy nationally appears to be coming to Spokane early next week.

Our partners at the Spokesman-Review report that the 20-foot "Baby Trump" balloon will be flown in Spokane in protest during Vice President Mike Pence's visit on Oct. 2.

The balloon is being brought in by the Backbone Campaign, an activist group that uses art to make political messages. A Backbone Spokane organizer says they hope to get the balloon as close as possible to Pence, who will be supporting the re-election campaign of Rep. Cathy McMorris  Rodgers.

According to a Facebook event, the balloon will fly from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

The balloon was made in Great Britain and is a replica of the original that flew in London when President Donald Trump visited the city in  July. The balloon that will fly in Spokane arrived in the U.S. in August and has traveled across the U.S. in New Jersey, Chicago, and L.A.
