Britney Spears took to Instagram with a blast from the past, and fans are loving it.
The pop icon — who recently marked a milestone in her conservatorship battle when her father, Jamie Spears, agreed to step down as his daughter’s conservator — shared a photo of a cat on Instagram on Tuesday (August 17). Her caption included a quote from her ex, singer-songwriter and *NSYNC alum Justin Timberlake.
Spears wrote:
“As JT would say ... haters gonna say it’s fake !!!!! I MEAN ... wow I have no idea ... what do you guys think 💭 ???? I’ve always liked small kittens … although big cats are extremely smart they always sort of scared me 💕😻💕 !!!!!!”
Though it’s been nearly two decades since the pair split, Timberlake has publicly supported Spears after she appeared in court and spoke publicly for the first time about what she described as an “abusive” conservatorship. Timberlake wrote on Twitter at the time “…we should all be supporting Britney at this time. Regardless of our past, good and bad, and no matter how long ago it was… what’s happening to her is just not right. No woman should ever be restricted from making decisions about her own body."
Of course, fans took notice of Spears' JT reference. One wrote “Did you just quote your ex?? Im here for it!” Artist Max Tejera posted “JT collab confirmed 😂” Another agreed, writing “Ok I’m off JT’s wagon, but if you guys collabed, I would hop back on so fast 👁👄👁” Another, referencing Spears’ conservatorship and the #FreeBritney movement among her supporters, said “Free Britney right meow!”
