A local orthodontist is giving back to the Spokane community in two ways after he cleared out a stock of Girl Scout cookies and plans to donate them to first responders.

Dr. Bret Johnson of Bret Johnson Orthodontics bought 480 boxes of cookies as part of his "It's Cookie Time" promotion aimed at helping local Girl Scouts reach their sales goals. The purchase raised $2,880 for the 20 troops involved and equates to over 10,000 cookies!!

Those 10,000 cookies will now be donated as a thank you to Spokane fire and police departments, paramedics and emergency medical technicians.

Johnson says he hopes to begin distributing them next week once all the boxes are delivered to his offices.
